Portraits

Leipzig 1851.

This one is at the Lippische Landesbibliothek in Detmold.
I would love to own one myself; so if any of you, readers, would like to give me something in return for my efforts to maintain this website – A Lortzing Bust is at the top of my wishlist. 🙂

Albert Lortzing, Brustbild

I found this Lortzing portrait accidentally on the website of the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Actually I was looking for something completely different (having nothing to do with musicology at all), and that is how great the adventure of life and/or science can be – IMHO. The Porträtsammlung Friedrich Nicolas Manskopf includes several portraits of Lortzing. This one was, until now, unknown to me. Unfortunately the original painter is not mentioned. An interesting detail to me is the grand piano in the background.
